Sound attenuation
AMCO pumps can be fitted with critically silenced enclosures, making them ideal wherever pumping is required but sound levels must stay low. Our enclosures silence to approximately 69 dBA at 30 ft, and each unit is lined with 2" layers of acoustic sound-deadening material.
Doors are hinged and lockable, giving convenient access to operating controls and service points. A lifting bar in the center allows easy installation of the enclosure, and the entire skid-mounted unit may be unbolted and removed from the trailer.

Why it matters
Noise control is a safety requirement
Excessive noise from heavy machinery is a real risk to workers, nearby residents and the surrounding environment. Prolonged exposure to high noise levels can cause hearing loss and tinnitus, and it makes on-site communication harder — which is how accidents start.
Noise also travels beyond the fence line. It disturbs wildlife behavior and degrades quality of life for neighbors, which turns into complaints, permit trouble and shut-down orders. Acoustic enclosures, barriers and vibration damping let equipment run safely and stay in service.

dB versus dBA
Sound pressure levels in dB are unweighted. dBA levels are “A” weighted to approximate how the human ear actually hears — a 100 dB level at 100 Hz is perceived as roughly as loud as 80 dB at 1000 Hz. Noise above 70 dB over a prolonged period may begin to damage hearing; above 120 dB, harm can be immediate.
